Thanks to the volunteers night
This was held on Friday evening on 21 October with twelve of the forty volunteers participating in the thank you night. We had the NSW landcare Forum and awards presentation here in Parkes on the 5-7 September and it was a great success with three hundred and twenty delegates from all over the state attending.  Read Full Story

Thanks to the volunteers night
We had the NSW Landcare Forum and awards presentation here in Parkes on the 5-7 September and it was a great success with three hundred and twenty delegates from all over the state attending. We conducted the forum over two venues mainly with four venues being used for the award nominees oral and visual presentation. We also conducted four bus trip to field trips around the area showing off the environmental work we are achieving.  Read Full Story

drumMUSTER reaccreditation course
This was held on Wednesday and Vernon Keighly who trains and assesses and coordinated all drumMUSTER in Australia presented the course. In all there were nine participant, six who were reaccredited and three who gained the accreditation. The course was over three hours and consisted of written and practical assessment. Some interesting information on drumMUSTER is that the first drumMUSTER was at Gunnedah in May 1999 and with its success there were negotiations with local councils and chemical suppliers to expand the concept. So far in 2010-11 there have been 1.84 million drums collected and in 2009-10 there were 1.93 drums collected. Since its inception in 1999 there have been 17 million drums collected which equates to approximately 55% of the drums distribute on an annual basis.  Read Full Story

drumMUSTER reaccreditation course
This will be held at the Parkes and Districts landcare Office located at Kelly Reserve (right next to the old steam engine). The date Wednesday 28th September 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Members assisting with the drum MUSTER need to be accredited in this course to carry out the procedure on collection day. The course is free and any landcare member wishing to gain reaccreditation or wishes to be accredited are urged to participate.
